"Konica Minolta's colour digital press produces
better results than even we anticipated."
Tony Kenton, Marketing Director, CPI London

CPI London provides customers with creative design, print and Internet services. Its Marketing Director, Tony Kenton, is an acknowledged industry leader in the marketing and graphic arts industry with over 30 years experience. As a long-standing advocate of intelligent, targeted marketing, Tony has championed variable data printing as the way forward for the print industry.
Recently, Tony ordered a Konica Minolta bizhub PRO C6500e digital print system to meet CPI London's expanding variable data print needs. CPI London is using DirectSmile, Darwin and Intellidoc for personalised variable data output and Tony is a great evangelist for the technology.
"Long term, the static print industry is in decline because electronic communication is faster and more targeted. The only way forward is to provide intelligent marketing solutions for clients."
The challenge, says Tony, is to help clients exploit their customer information to produce targeted and personalised print campaigns.
And the bizhub PRO C6500e has proven the perfect equipment for the task at hand: "Contrary to the digital presses with almost double the price, the bizhub PRO C6500e gives us a click rate that makes it highly competitive for variable data output. It means that we can try out variable data marketing strategies for our clients using very short print runs. I am pleased to say that this new piece of equipment has been making money for us from day one!"
Hardware bizhub PRO C6500e, System 9
Options Paper Feed Unit (PF-601), Staple Finisher (SD-501)
Software Various VDP applications
Mostly, variable data jobs are processed, using different VDP software applications (e.g. DirectSmile, Darwin, Intellidoc). Production is highly cost-competitive, even in very short VDP print runs; so much so that sub-contract work is taken on from other printers.

"We are very impressed with the output. It's produced better results than even we anticipated. When we ask a client 'does that meet and exceed your expectations?' they always say yes. It's only the printers that get hung up on the litho versus digital argument. Clients in reality are only interested in results, not the process."
