As part of our efforts to create energy-saving digital MFPs, Konica Minolta employs Induction Heating (IH) Fixing technology, which reduces power consumption during the fixing process and results in shorter warm-up time. In addition, this feature automatically cuts off residual fixing heat when no print jobs are taking place, further contributing to energy savings.
During the conventional fixing process, electric energy is converted into heat with a halogen lamp, and the fixing roller is heated by a thermal conduction system. IH Fixing technology allows us to directly heat the fixing roller electromagnetically, and quickly increase the temperature.
For this reason, energy consumption in the standby mode can be reduced, greatly contributing to energy conservation.
In 2005, Konica Minolta released the bizhub 750/600, which were the first digital MFPs to introduce the IH Fixing technology. At the time, these models led the industry in energy savings. One year later, in 2006, we introduced the bizhub C550, which similarly was the best energy-saving colour MFP in its category.
